Brooks M. Whiteside- Brooks is a native Charlottean and graduated from Charlotte Country Day School. He has a B.A. degree in Political Science and a minor in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. As a high school student and undergraduate student he worked for Whiteside Industrial Properties as a research intern for several summers gaining valuable knowledge of the Charlotte region industrial market.
Brooks expanded his skill set in industrial development through his assistance with problem solving solutions from the redevelopment of the 30,000 square foot Converse Shoe research building, now known as Goodrich on Westinghouse. After graduating from the University of South Carolina he became a licensed real estate broker.
Brooks has participated in all facets of industrial real estate brokerage; representing clients with Acquisitions, Tenant Representation, Leasing, Disposition, and Investments.
Urban Redevelopment: Recently Brooks has focused on urban infill development and redevelopment sites specifically in Historic South End Charlotte representing both property owners and developers along with Landlords and Tenants. Brooks has sold urban infill development sites to institutional town home developers, local investors, and international commercial developers. Brooks has also demonstrated a knack for seeing opportunity in functionally obsolete properties that can be positioned for change of use redevelopment from warehouses to retail,office or restaurant uses.
Retail: In Historic South End Charlotte alone, Brooks has leased four restaurants totaling 16,000 SF and all were “change of use” redevelopments. In addition to restaurants Brooks has leased an art gallery, micro brewery, and office space, all in Historic South End and The Gold District in Charlotte NC.
Brooks is passionate about representing longtime local property owners in their disposition or sale of property in Charlotte by finding the highest and best use which will bring the highest offers.
