Services Representative Transactions and Clients History
At the heart of the industrial district We spearheaded a group who in 1998 renovated the Historic Textile Mill Supply Building located on Mint Street and converted it to office condominiums. Recently named to the National Register of Historic Buildings, we are proud to be a part in preserving this fine example of the industrial history in the Piedmont area. Whiteside Industrial Properties' offices are located here in the heart of the industrial district - right where we are most comfortable taking care of business. The Charlotte region, historically a thriving textile center has rapidly evolved into a complex industrial manufacturing area. Rapid growth has produced a real estate landscape of industrial parks and free-standing manufacturing facilities intermingled with vintage textile mills and buildings
About the Textile Mill Supply Company Building (courtesy of Dr. Dan L. Morrill, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission) The Textile Mill Supply Company Building, erected in 1922, housed enterprises that contributed to Charlotte's emergence as a major textile manufacturing and distribution center in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Without the support of firms like the Textile Mill Supply Building cotton mills could not have proliferated in the Piedmont sections of the two Carolinas in the early twentieth century. The building designed by Lockwood Green & Company of Greenville, SC, in the revival style, also possesses local historic importance because it is a representative example of the type of commercial and industrial structure constructed in Charlotte in the 1920's. The company sold such items as pulleys, shafts, bearings, lubricants, couplers, spinning rings, ball bearings, electric motors, pumps, casters and metal shelving to name just a few of the products in inventory. The only other structure associated with the textile mill supply business, the Charlotte Supply Company Building, was torn down in the mid 1990's to make way for Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium, home of the NFL Carolina Panthers.
