South End buildings sold to Charlotte Copy Data founder

A company managed by Kal Kardous, the retired founder of Charlotte Copy Data, has purchased the former two-building South End Fieldhouse facility on South Mint Street for $2.18 million.

The seller was an affiliate of Browder Group Real Estate, which bought the two properties from CommunityOne Bank in late 2011 for slightly more than $1 million. The two industrial buildings, at the intersection of South Mint and Lincoln streets, total approximately 32,500 square feet and are mostly vacant.

Brooks and Jim Whiteside of Whiteside Industrial Properties represented the buyer, Batandpick Partners, and are now leasing the properties for the new owner with an asking rental rate of $6 to $8 per square foot. Brooks Whiteside says his firm is negotiating with four prospective tenants already.

“The South End market is just on fire right now,” he says.

Betsy Browder of Browder Group Real Estate represented the seller, Summit Avenue Mint Street.

Kardous sold Charlotte Copy Data to Sharp Imaging and Information Co. of America in 2008.
